Our Story

Maddie & Bella began very simply, as a hobby, roasting a quarter pound of a coffee at a time. When more and more family and friends began asking for (if not demanding) fresh coffee, we decided it was time to begin the change from hobby to business. When contemplating the company name, it was an easy decision to name it after our family Australian Shepherds, Maddie and Bella. While Maddie and Bella (sisters, of course) are no longer with us, we hold them deeply in our heart and like to think they're with us with every cup we brew for you!

  • 2012

    We officially became a company, and debuted our coffee at Sunday brunch at The Savory Suite. Later, Bleak House downtown Toledo becomes the first coffee shop to carry M&B.

  • 2013

    We begin wholesale distribution with Walt Churchill's Market in Perrysburg, and have great success at the Farmer's Market downtown Perrysburg.

  • 2015

    In 2015, we made the decision to open our first retail location, in the former location of Downtown Latte, a staple in the St Clair block of the Warehouse District downtown Toledo.

  • June 2016

    OK, it took us a little longer than we expected, but in June of 2016, we opened our doors to Toledo at 44 S St Clair St.

  • August 2016

    Our second location opens in historic downtown Perrysburg, just in time for the city's bicentennial celebration. 117 Louisiana Ave becomes our second home.

  • 2019

    We finally finish the darn new website.
